Preschool
Our hands-on curriculum is presented to our students through a variety of child-friendly monthly themes. It is through these monthly themes that we incorporate all types of concepts, such as language arts, mathematics, social-emotional learning, science, art, dramatic play, music and more! By presenting these concepts wrapped in engaging topics, children do not even realize that they are learning - they just know they are having fun!

Team 1 (2 year-olds)
Welcome to school! An exciting journey awaits your child as they begin their adventures at Discovery School. Our main focus in Team 1 is to help your child adjust to a classroom environment - how to separate from their parent, play alongside their peers, learn vocabulary to express their feelings and needs, learn to use the potty, and become an active participant in classroom activities. We fill this time of transition with a lot of care and fun, so that children feel comfortable at school and are excited for the engaging activities that await them each day.
Our 2 year-old curriculum is filled with sensory exploration, creative art projects, storytime, music and movement, dramatic play, plenty of outdoor activities, and an introduction to basic concepts like letters, numbers, shapes, days of the week, etc. Additionally, children will be presented with many opportunities to develop their large gross motor skills, through climbing, jumping, swinging, and riding tricycles, while also working on their fine motor skills, like the development of the pincer grip, which will be used later for writing, painting, and many practical life skills.
Team 2 (3 year-olds)
Having adjusted to the school environment, our Team 2 children are ready to be active members of our learning environment. One of our main goals in this age group is to show children how fun school can be. We accomplish this by presenting the children with a wide array of hands-on activities that engage their senses. By teaching through messy art projects, interesting science experiments, funny songs and dances, and other fun activities, our students see that learning is fun!

Here we take the opportunity to encourage more independence in our students, while still focusing on the care and attention that each individual child needs. We help them learn how to express their emotions, teach more complex problem solving skills and begin working more collaboratively as a group.

We also begin to introduce academic concepts like writing letters, phonetic awareness and patterning.

Team 3 (4 year-olds)
Our Team 3 (Pre-K) program serves as a bridge to elementary school by providing the love and attention of a preschool environment, while making sure the children are academically and socially prepared for their next step.
In this age group, we focus on developing a strong sense of self. Children are tasked with jobs in the classroom and are given weekly opportunities to speak in front of their classmates in a fun and non-pressured way. Our students may be growing up, but we also understand that they are still little and need love and devotion in order to feel comfortable enough to develop a positive self concept.

While each child's day is still full of playtime, art activities and sensory exploration, we start to bring in more academic concepts into this age group. Here, we introduce our formal language arts and mathematics programs, music theory, artists and authors of the month and Spanish. The goal is to meet each child where they are through an individualized approach and always make sure every concept is presented in a hands-on, fun way.
